One blog I want to spotlight is Jen Bekman’s Project Blog + 20×200. One of my fellow studio pals Theresa sent me the link, and I’m in love with the mix of projects on the blog. According to the site, “Jen Bekman Projects are Daily observations, jokes, and behind-the-scenes peeks from the JBP crew in New York City. 20×200: It’s art for everyone. New original editions weekly, at ridiculously affordable prices.” A lot of the pieces are less than $30! I love the variety on this site, and it really makes me hungry to start MAKING work again, instead of always TALKING about it (my daily MFA grumble). I keep being encouraged to start making, and professors seem to be supportive at this point, I don’t logically see where I’m going to find time to start these projects. I’m planning to move into my MFA studio space this week, so that should help isolate me from the distractions of my apartment, and working from my room. Hopefully in my seclusion on W18th Street, I can finally MAKE IT WORK!
The last images are from Lisa Congdon’s A Collection A Day Project, where Lisa presents a different collection for each day of the year. By December 31, 2010, her blog will showcase 365 different collections … I love the idea of taking the little things you collect, documenting them, then presenting them like a gallery-like show. Great idea!
